Walrus Ivory Spirit Mask
Description
Alaska Native artist Sly Swan made this mask from a walrus cheekbone. The face is shaped like two polar bears back to back, and the eyes are walrus ivory and whale baleen. The face is surrounded by a baleen circle with ivory polar bears and feathers around the edge. It measures 13x13x2 inches.
